Sommer im Kiez und zugleich ganz weit weg – diese Mischung bringt das
Story Oase Festival erstmalig im September 2023 nach Berlin.

Ein sommerliches Getränk in der Hand und Berlin als Hintergrund – so lässt es sich wunderbar in die Ferne träumen, wenn 15 internationale und lokale Erzählkünstler:innen ihre Geschichten aus aller Welt performen. Auf Deutsch und Englisch, mit spanischen, türkischen, litauischen Elementen.

Mit ihren frei erzählten Geschichten lassen die Storyteller ganz neue Welten in den Köpfen der Zuhörenden entstehen. Mit einem Fuß in den Geschichten, mit dem anderen im Hier & Jetzt. Nur mit Sprache, Mimik und Gestik werden die Bilder lebendig. Wir nennen Erzählkunst auch „Kino für Arme“, denn sie braucht weder Bühnenbild noch Requisiten oder Technik, um die Imagination des Publikums anzuregen. Keine vorgefertigten Bilder steuern die Fantasie des Publikums, sondern die Geschichten werden plastisch und lebendig IN den Zuschauern DURCH die Kunst der:s Storytellers.

Imagine summer in the neighbourhood and being far away at the same time – this mixture will bring the STORY OASE FESTIVAL to Berlin for the first time in September 2023.

With a summer drink in hand and Berlin as the backdrop, it’s a wonderful way to dream away, when 15 international and local storytelling artists will perform their stories from all over the world. The stories will be told in German and English, with Spanish, Turkish and Lithuanian elements.

With their freely told stories, the storyteller create completely new worlds in the minds of the listeners. With one foot in the stories, the other in the here & now. Only through language, voice expressions and gestures the images come to life. We also call storytelling „cinema for the poor” because it needs neither stage sets nor props or technology to stimulate the audience’s imagination. No prefabricated images control the audience’s imagination, but the stories become vivid and alive IN the audience THROUGH the art of the storytellers.

Altes Auto, neues Team: Eine Meddah-Reise (Deutsch + Türkisch)
Über Jahrhunderte haben Meddahs, die traditionellen türkischen Geschichtenerzähler, ihre Geschichten vor allem in Kaffeehäusern erzählt und waren historisch sehr eng mit der Gesellschaft als Teil des täglichen Lebens verbunden.
Neslihan Arol greift diese traditionelle, etwas vergessene Kunstform wieder auf und erzählt aus weiblicher Perspektive eine höchst aktuelle Geschichte von ihrer ungewöhnlichen Reise nach Deutschland.

Come on a storytelling journey across the wintry lands of the far north, from Scotland to Siberia. This selection of tales explores shape shifting wolves, ancient poets raised by deer, and the magic that happens when we remember the wilder part of our human nature and allow ourselves to howl with the moon.

Juliana Marín (aka Achira) is a traditional storyteller from Colombia who left everything to travel the world, scattering stories like seeds. Nearly 2 years and 26 countries later, she’s hitchhiked ambulances, slept in cemeteries, sat with shamans in the Amazon, lost all her stories and been found by them again—all this, to find you, and bring you a story. Wenn man zwischen zwei Kontinenten, zwei Kulturen, zwei Sprachen, eigentlich zwei Welten aufwächst, wo ist man dann zuhause? Und steckt dahinter wirklich ein konkreter Ort? Johanna Wollin verwebt ihre Suche nach Identität mit traditionellen Geschichten aus vier Ländern und drei Kontinenten, und nimmt uns mit auf eine Reise zwischen Kirschen und Eukalyptus, Jasmin und Johannisbeeren, Anden und Alpen, zwischen Heimat und Fremde.

Where is the line between a friend and a stranger? The man with a blue beard comes into the house of his neighbour every day and eats his dinner. Do we change when we encounter the unknown?
To answer those and other questions Milda embarks on a journey into the world of Lithuanian folk tales, lighting a way with her personal and family stories for us to follow her.
