Mythology meets the present day
“Fell that tree!” commanded Erisychthon 2,000 years ago. He did not care that the oak
was over 1,000 years old and a sanctuary of the goddess Demeter. He was blinded by power,
armoured by his own will, and towered above everything.
“Fell that tree!” was the command 2,000 years later, in 1997, from a logging company in
California. They didn’t care that the redwood was over 1,000 years old and
worthy of protection. They were blinded by greed, armoured by their will, and soared above
everything.
Britta Wilmsmeier weaves together two stories, one fictional, the other true. Both tell
of a lack of reverence and of arrogance. Yet in one, it becomes a parable
of anger; in the other, of love.

Next up: Open mic! Bring your stories – tell them with gestures and expressions, with words and wit, with music and song! Whatever you’ve got – up to 10 minutes, whether myths, fairy tales, personal anecdotes or made-up tales – you’re welcome!
Eintritt Everyone pays what they can. As a guide: to enable us to continue paying the bills for the storytelling stage, we would be grateful for a "regular admission" fee of € 15 or more 🙂, but anyone who cannot afford this is still welcome to come and pay less.
